Hong Kong Action Star Donnie Yen to Star in English-Language 'Noodle Man'

The HollywoodReporter has reported one of Hong Kong’s biggest action stars is returning to America for an English-language project.

Donnie Yen famously known by martial art movie fans for the IP Man films and Iron Monkey, has signed on to star in an English-language film titled Noodle Man. He will play an ex-cop from China who now runs a noodle shop in New York's Chinatown. One day in his shop, he meets the drug lord responsible for killing his partner 15 years ago.

Noodle Man will be a US-China co-production directed by Chen Daming (who directed the Chinese version of What Women Want) and produced by Michael Shamberg, producer of films such as PulpFictionOut Of SightContagion and Django Unchained

Yen, whose action film Kung Fu Jungle will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival just wrapped Crouching Tiger, HiddenDragon: The Green Legend; the upcoming sequel hot-button movie starring Michelle Yeoh, which will be simultaneously released next summer in theaters and via Netflix.

In the early 2000s, Yen appeared in Highlander:EndgameBlade 2, and Shanghai Knights. Noodle Man will be his first English-language film since the 2008 Hong Kong film IP Man launched him into superstardom.
