Kia Asamiya's Work Panel (Otakon 2023)

By Justin D Williams

At Otakon 2023 I headed to the Kia Asamiya’s panel. The famed manga artist that is responsible for such manga such as Silent Mobius, Martian Successor Nadesico, Star Wars Episode1: The Phantom Menace just to name a few. The panel was amazing and it felt like a career retrospective as Kia Asamiya broke down some of his biggest and most popular works. Kia Asamiya talked about his beginnings and what inspired him to be a manga artist. From there he went into breaking down some of his works. The most popular one that really got the audience cheering is the discussion of Silent Mobius. Kia Asamiya describe the impact, the success on the manga had on his life and career and show gratitude that so many people loved the series.

Overall this was a very great panel that broke down a legend career and there were prizes given out at the end. I didn’t win any though.
