San Diego, CA (April 4, 2015) – IDW Publishing, CBS Consumer Products and DC Entertainment announced today that they will boldly go where no one has gone before…in brightest day, in blackest night. Two iconic franchises will meet this summer in a legendary crossover event with the release of a six-part comic book miniseries, STAR TREK/GREEN LANTERN: THE SPECTRUM WAR. Both Star Trek and Green Lantern are known for their strong cast of interstellar characters and when they come together for the first time this July, fans new and old are sure to experience a galaxy-sized thrill.

STAR TREK/GREEN LANTERN: THE SPECTRUM WAR is six-part monthly mini-series and will be written by veteran Star Trek comic writer Mike Johnson with interior art by Angel Hernandez (INFINITE CRISIS: FIGHT FOR THE MULTIVERSE, ARROW). STAR TREK/GREEN LANTERN: THE SPECTRUM WAR #1 will be available in stores and online in July, boasting covers from Gabriel Rodriguez,Francesco Francavilla,Elsa Charretier, and Garry Brown. Following issues will feature covers from an amazing lineup that includes Declan Shalvey, Marc Laming, and more!

“We’ve looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW President and COO. “Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply…logical.”

“Green Lantern is one of the most popular, storied characters in the history of comic books and a modern DC Comics icon.

An entire universe of Green Lanterns and other supporting characters have grown out from his original adventures in the 1940’s, and this series really showcases the intergalactic scope of the franchise,” said Bob Harras, Editor-in-Chief of DC Comics.

A pop culture mainstay for almost 50 years, Star Trek's fan base continues to grow exponentially with the new feature films in 2009 and 2013. Now all Star Trek fans can watch their favorite U.S.S. Enterprise crew members meet Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps in an adventure that spans space, time and all the colors of the spectrum. Set in Star Trek’s 23rd Century, the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lantern Corps’ Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner.  Only the combined power of the Green Lantern Corp and the Federation stand any chance of stopping those who worship evil’s might.

Five Actors Who Will Make A Good John Stewart (Green Lantern)

Since the Justice League movie will be in the not too distant future. There is still one main concern about the movie and that is which Green Lantern will be featured. It has already been well known that Ryan Reynolds will not be returning as Hal Jordan. However that doesn't mean a new Hal Jordan might not be cast. With so many Green Lantern's of earth to choose from Kyle, Guy and John studios have a lot of arcs and plotlines to use for the future. If Warner Bros and DC decide not to use Hal and go with the other well known Lantern John Stewart, the question is who should play him. Today I have chosen five actors I think will be great as John Stewart.

1. Idris Elba

The most popular choice on the list is a no brainer. Idris Elba would make the perfect John Stewart should he be included in the Justice League. There is no doubt in my mind that Elba will knock the role right out of the park. He has the acting range to play almost anything he sees fit. Playing the miltary no nonsense Green Lantern will be great to see. However his role in both Thor movies as Heimdall might be a problem for fanboys.

2. Chad Boswick
This my personal favorite choice. While I would love to see Idris Elba's take on the character. I would love to see what Chad Boswick would do with the role. The casting so far with DC has been a lot of shockers and surprises. I think giving Chad Boswick a chance in the role will be a great idea. He has already shown that he has the acting range to play two legends James Brown and Jackie Robinson. How about seeing him in a genre we haven't seen him yet and that is the superhero role. I think Boswick can pull off the serious mannerism, voice and body language John Stewart with ease.

3. Isaiah Washington
Isaiah Washington is someone I will cast. He has played a lot of dramatic and serious roles and he definitely has the look. If they decided to make John Stewart a little bit older I will definitely go this route. Washington can been seen on CW's 100 as the main leader of the ship. He has proven of the years to be a serious actor.

4. Omari Hardwick

I have been watching "Power" on Starz and Omari Hardwick is doing one hell of a job on the show. He's really showing his acting chops and he is the most compelling character on the show. Casting him as John Stewart won't be bad choice at all. He can add dimensions, layers and he really has the tough guy persona to really show that John is the Green Lantern you don't want to mess with.

5. Common

Common was the first one to be rumored to be Green Lantern when the original Justice League movie was going to be filmed. However that movie was scrapped. Still Common has improve as an actor on Hell on Wheels and certainly has the look to play John Stewart. This one would be a toss up for me personality but he has enough acting experience to play John.

WHAT THE F*%K!! DC Comics May Be Killing Off Their Most Famous Black Character

Hey Otakus and Geeks fans, Sean (the True Comic Fan) Here. And seriously WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DC COMICS! First they let (or was apart of ) Cartoon Networks cancellation of Green Lantern TAS and Young Justice. Two great shows that deserved atleast one more season ( or  a movie to wrap them up). Now the rumors are flying that they might kill off Green Lantern John Stewart!

Character deaths aren’t an unusual thing in comic books but a huge nerve was hit yesterday when it was revealed DC Comics was planning to kill off Green Lantern John Stewart. The news came out amidst two more DC writers stepping off their new titles before any issues hit stores. Two big name creators are wrapping up their runs on two of DC’s best-selling titles. Geoff Johns is exiting Green Lantern with issue #20 after revamping the title back in 2004 with Green Lantern: Rebirth. Grant Morrison is leaving Action Comics where he’d been telling early-career Superman stories in The New 52.

Bleeding Cool reported those conflicting “editorial decisions” were DC’s plan to kill off John Stewart. Comic Book Resources later reported, confirming that reasoning. As to that story, Fialkov tweeted, “I’m not commenting on anything other than what I posted.” Bleeding Cool has since reported DC has changed their minds on axing the character, seemingly because of the intense reaction.

So why the uproar you ask? John Stewart has become one of the most beloved characters in the DC Universe. He was  introduced in the early 70s he made quite an impact. He has become one of the most famous African-American superheros DC has and his fan base got even bigger when he was the Green Lantern used in the Justice League animated series.I hope this isn't another BS ploy by DC to boost it's sales and if they are going to do this, they have a good reason and story behind it.

What ever the outcome I hope this is just a rumor and DC keeps John Stewart. With so many of my comic book heros dying off or getting cancelled this is starting to look like a dark time for comic book enthusiast.

LET"S HOPE THIS COMIC PANAL NEVER HAPPENS!!
