Nurse Witch KOMUGI R Episode 1: The Birth of the Magical Nurse! Review

Komugi Yoshida is an energetic but clumsy middle-school student who performs as an idol. Although her popularity is lacking, Komugi lives a dual life between her two worlds, until a mysterious creature named Usa-P appears before Komugi and grants her the powers of a Legendary Girl. Now Komugi has reluctantly become Magical Nurse, and must add a third life of fighting monsters to her already crowded lifestyle.

I honestly did not know what type of anime to expect going into this. The opening scene starts off with Komugi performing a concert as pop idol. This scene was done very with the use of animation and transition into CGI. From that opening sequence she encounters a bunch of bad guys who are trying to stop her concert. It turns out to be a dream sequence and then we are introduced to Komugi. I like her character but she screams the embodiment of cliche. She's cute, she's kind, she  is a one note character at this point and doesn't appear to have any interesting layers to her. We learn her favorite food, and what subjects she's not good at and she tends to be lend. All of that is shown in the first ten minutes. The anime then shifts into a very random genre of magical anime. Komugi encounters the typical bunny character that states she is the chosen one to protect and defend the world against evil forces. Komgui excepts the job and she goes on her first mission.  The show is very one note and doesn't really offer much to the magical girl genre. It's cute, it's colorful and has the same note that you would expect from a show like this.
