Comics in Focus: "Chris Claremont's X-Men" Review

If you're a fan of the X-Men comics chances are that you heard of Chris Claremont. Chris Claremont is on of the people responsible for some of X-Men's most legendary story arcs and characters. Chris Claremont is reponsible for the Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, The New Mutants just to name a few. His time period at Marvel's greatest time for X-Men is shown in a new documentary entitled "Comics in Focus: Chris Claremont's X-Men."

The documentary gives a brief history on Claremont and how he got started with Marvel. It showcases some of his early years and how he was introduced to Marvel by a friend of Stan Lee's. From there the film focuses on it's main focal point which is Claremont's impact on the X-Men. The film does well giving viewers an insight look on the creative process Claremont had at the time. If you want to know how Claremont came up with the Dark Phoenix saga, it's revealed in this film. Ever wanted to know how Claremont felt about the resurrection of Jean Grey through X-Factor it's in the film. I like how the film balances Claremont's impact and gives more insight into some of Marvel's works. The film is not afraid to show how Claremont felt about creative differences during that time period with Marvel's artist like Jim Lee. It's very nice to see both sides of the spectrum in this documentary, the creative process and the politics of corporate interest.

If you ever wanted to know more about the man who helped give new life to X-Men comics, this is the documentary to check out. The documentary is insightful and makes you really appericate Claremont's style and creative process. It contains great interviews from some of Marvel's top writers at that era. The documentary is truly a winner.
