Justin Notes – The following Fanfiction is based on the events of Robotech: The Macross Saga. The story of the Macross Saga will be seen through the eyes of a Macross Island civilian. I wanted to tell a story of the Robotech War from a civilian’s point of view. The Fanfiction is told through journal entries from the civilian. In entry 2 we find Kenji telling us about his journey to the shelter. There will be 36 entries in all, one for each episode of The Macross Saga. There will be a new entry each week. Enjoy.

Entry 2 – Countdown
Entry Date – January 27 2014
Entry Name – Kenji Takeda

I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was giant robot standing tall over me. It was holding a huge gun in its hands. It had to be at least 45 feet tall. I was terrified and amazed at the same time. My body was shaking, my mouth was dry.

“What are you standing around for? Get to the shelter.” The voice yelled.

The giant robot pointed north. I figured that’s where the shelter would be. The question for me was how I get there. Walking would be suicide, there had to be something I could use. I turn to my left and saw a beautiful blue and black motorcycle. By a miracle it wasn’t damage. I just hope that the motorcycle still had gas in it. I walked over to the bike and started it up. The engine roared to life. Hearing that engine was bittersweet. It reminded me of the days when Rika use to ride on my bike, back when had races after class. It was time for me to go. I took one more glance at Rika’s death site and I couldn’t help but cry. The pain of losing someone that you love is something you can’t describe. It’s one of those emotions that you just have to feel for yourself. I started the motorcycle and heading north. My speed was about 50 miles per hour. As I was driving the only thing I could see is death. There were bodies, upon bodies, blood and guts all over the area.

I approach a sign that said Macross Highway. I use to take the highway to get home. Home I kept thinking to myself, my friends, my family and most importantly my dragon chain Rika gave me. I had to go see if everyone was alright. I took the highway and push the bike to over 100 miles. The highway was clear, but the skies weren’t clear. You can see the battle that was taken place. Faster I push the bike to its full speed. I just had to get home. My exit was only a few more miles then suddenly, a huge object crashed onto the highway. I yield to the left and barely dodge it. I took a glance up and saw three more objects falling towards me. This was going to be the end of me. Truthfully I didn’t care whether this will be the end, life without Rika is worst than death. I was slowly decreasing my speed. I wanted to get hit and be splatter into the pavement. I didn’t care anymore, who wants to live if all you’ll be doing is mourning.

“Don’t give up Kenji.”
“Rika?” I screamed.

I don’t know if that was Rika or not, but I put the motorcycle in full speed. It was a race to my exit. The three objects were coming in fast. The first object came towards me and I yield to right. The second was coming and I press the brakes and yield to the left. The final one was coming and this one was coming straight for me. I sped towards it and yield to right and barely escape the collision. I then went to my exit and drove straight home.

To my surprise my home was empty. Thankfully it wasn’t too damage, just a destroyed wall and broken pipes. I quickly ran to my room and went into my drawer and took my dragon chain and a picture of Rika. My parents gone must mean they went to the shelter. Time was short and I needed to know if they’re okay. I got back on the motorcycle and sped off to get to the location where the shelter is. Back on the road I can tell that the battle was getting closer and closer. Gunfire, explosions and screams can be heard all over Macross Island. What the hell was going on? Who were we fighting? These were the question entering my mind. Then I finally got my answers. I stop my motorcycle, and got off the bike. I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was a giant human, or at least I think it’s human. It’s dead. I once again couldn’t move due to fear. What is this thing? What is happening to me? I couldn’t just stand here. I ran back to my bike and drove straight to the shelter.

Fifteen minutes later I arrived at the shelter. The shelter had to be one of the most depressing places ever. People were looking for lost love ones, children crying for their parents. The wounded were getting treated for injuries. Truthfully I rather be outside dodging for my life, than stay in this depressing places. The shelter was huge place. I estimate that it could fit at least 75,000 people in this one place alone. Finding my family and friends would be difficult. It doesn’t help that the phones aren’t working.

“KENJI!” The familiar voice yelled.

I turned around and it was the one person I didn’t want to see. The person who called me was, a very sweet old woman who I knew since I was young boy. Sakura Takahashi was Rika’s mother. She ran to me and gave me a huge hug. I couldn’t help but feel some type of guilt or regret. I knew the question she was about to ask me.

“Kenji you’re safe. Where is Rika?” Sakura asked.
I didn’t know what to say. What do you say in a situation like this? How do you explain to someone that their child is dead?

“Sakura, Rika is…..”
