Please Teacher Review

Story
Kei Kusanagi, a high-school student living with his aunt and uncle, has an encounter with a female alien. This alien is revealed to be a new teacher at his school. Later, he is forced to marry this alien to preserve her secrets. From there, various romantically-inclined problems crop up repeatedly. Please Teacher is a very clever anime. I really like the story set up of now one of our classic anime cliches. Boy meets Alien Female who he happens to fall in love with. You'll probably wondering what separates "Please Teacher" from the others. Well for one this show has excellent pacing and characters. With only 12 episodes in the series and extra in the OVA, this anime delivers on the laughs and awkward moments. I like "Please Teacher" protagonist Kei Kusanagi. He is a very reserve shy boy.

However Kei suffers from a rare disease that puts him a comatose known as a "Stand Still." The "Stand Still" has Kei's appearance that of a 15 year old boy. The great twist about this is Kei is really 18 years old. He was in coma for three years. He's still in the 10th grade and blends in with his classmates by lying about his age. I like this obstacle because it leaves Kei not able to open up to anyone but Mizuho Kazami. Mizuho Kazami is the alien that landed on earth and happens to become Kei's new teacher. Kei finds out she is an alien and to hide her secret he marries her. Without spoiling it anymore. This anime has a bunch of twist and turns and awkard moments. One thing I would like to add is I love the sexual tension between the Kei and Mizuho. You'll see what I mean when you watch, it's funny.

Voice Acting
I really enjoy the voice acting in Please Teacher. Dave Wittenberg who plays Kei Kusanagi really brings his shy character to life. He doesn't disappoint us. He has a very unique voice. Bridget Hoffman plays Mizuho Kazami and she plays her with so much innoncence. You can't help but love her. Michelle Suzanne Ruff plays Koishi Herikawa. Somehow Michelle Ruff always plays the characters that annoy me. She also play Kiki in Mobile Suit Gundman 08th MS Team. However her performance is great as Koishi Herikawa. Koishi Herikawa is that girl who needs to know he's just not that into you. Needless to say the voice acting is good, but some other characters hold it back from being great.

Music
The music is very relaxing. Great use of piano, strings and sets a friendly and emotional tone depending on the scene. I'm looking for the soundtrack because it's enjoyable. The opening song "Shooting Star" by Kotoko is very cool song, I have it on my Ipod.

Final Grade - B- A fun story with comedy, romance and drama, that will keep you watching till the end. Great music that sets the tone. Wonderful pacing. Good voice acting however some characters hold it back. Please Teacher adds fan service in awkard ways as well. This is one class that you want to register for. Final Grade B-.
