The world’s first solar-powered headphones and speakers are being introduced by Urbanista, the Swedish audio lifestyle company. There are 3 new products:
The Los Angeles are over-ear headphones with solar cells on the head band, collecting energy for an 80 hour battery reserve. It’s chock-full of tech including ANC (Active Noise Cancelling), ambient sound mode, on-ear detection and an app to customize everything.
The Phoenix true-wireless earbuds have solar cells integrated on the case, since earbuds have very little surface area. It supports Bluetooth multi-point for connecting to 2 devices simultaneously.
The Malibu is a 360° omni-directional speaker with solar cells fitted on top. It’s dust and water proof up to 1 meter (IP 67) with the outer shell made of 100% recycled plastic.
The Power Foyle solar cells used in these Urbanista products are manufactured by a fellow Swedish company, Exeger. They’re light, flexible and durable, making it a good match for integration.
