Here's my favorite thing about these headsets - I start up a game and suddenly remember that I need snacks and drinks. But instead of taking off my headset, I can keep'em on and hear if my game's finished loading or not as I make a run for the kitchen!
The Cloud II Wireless headsets were announced back in October of 2020 by HyperX and have a super long battery life of 30 hours and also has virtual surround sound and mic monitoring. The mic mute lights up red when you turn it on so you can visually see it.
While I personally like the product itself, I have to say I dislike how HyperX has tied the knot with Microsoft when it comes to software. Ngenuity is no longer available as a standalone product and you must download it from the Microsoft store. Why is this? Ngenuity has been re-developed using MS Windows modules for functionality and design, so now it can't operate without the Store.
While this move is fine for the general public, I truly dislike tie-ins that constantly check for updates and nag you to death (Microsoft, Google, Steam, all of them). Plus, you no longer have total control over your own software since you now depend on Microsoft parts and hope to god they're going to be "fair" from now til the unforeseeable future. Uh-huh. Right.
Due to Covid, these headsets may not be available immediately, but keep your eyes open for them!
