Review: Kingston DataTraveler MicroDuo 3.0
/It sucks when you run out of space and can't take pictures. So why not back them up and make space?
The MicroDuo 3.0 by Kingston is a tiny flash drive that's smaller than the size of your thumb. But despite its small size, they've managed to fit both micro USB and USB 3.0 tips. And that's the great thing about it - on one end is micro USB to connect your phone or tablet, and on the other end is USB 3.0 for a laptop or computer. The cross platform nature of this piece of gear lets you back up practically anything from any device!
IT'S TINY
The size is a double edged sword. On the one hand, it's so small that you could probably smuggle tv shows like Friends into places like North Korea where they forbid you to watch any "western" propaganda programs, though on the other hand, you have to be really careful not to misplace it since it's easy to miss.
COMPATIBILITY
It works with any Android phone or tablet with a micro USB port (which is the same port used for charging the battery). All you have to do is plug it in and move your photos and videos over. As most devices are OTG capable, they will recognize the MicroDuo 3.0 as storage and probably won't need use of a computer or any extra software to handle data transfers.
CAPACITY AND TRANSFER SPEEDS
The drive comes in several sizes including 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Transfer rates via USB 3 have it slated for read speeds of 70MB/sec and write speeds of 15MB/sec for the 64GB version. And you can relax your mind knowing that it's gone through certified testing with the FCC, CE and others and comes with a 5 year warranty.
iPHONES / iPADS
While this is all great for Android and Windows users, what if you use Apple products? Kingston's got you covered there too - if you use an iPhone or iPad, they have something called the Bolt that comes with a lightning connector.
