Ooya-san wa Shishunki! A Review of Episode 1
/So I confess, I got roped into this. Normally, I'm far from the type of watching cutesy anime with little girls in it. But Ooya-san wa Shishunki is...different to say the least. I mean the literal translation of the title into English is "Landlord is in Puberty".
Plot and Characters
It seems each episode of the series is going to only be two minutes long, and for the most part, the intro takes almost a minute of time, meaning that you really only get a minute of show to watch. Since this is just the first episode, there wasn't too much plot, other than a young man is moving into an apartment, and finds out his landlord is a young girl in middle school. The characters seem very plain as well; the young man for instance, is a bit perverted, while a random neighbor character who is female is very caring and protective of the landlord, as she's only in middle school. In total, I find there's not too much to the characters, nor much to the plot, though this may be one of those "goofy shorts" series.
Voice Acting
Overall I'd say the voice acting to the series is pretty average. You have the typical girl voice needed for a young girl, the young man at least has hit puberty and is played by a guy rather than a woman. It's not much to even talk about as it's nothing that surprises me, and it just gives me the feel that it's another one of those typical animes that come out.
Animation
I'll give Ooya-san was Shishunki credit at least for good animation. It seems to follow the style of the mangaka, along with being smooth and well drawn. The opening song for the show also has beautiful but stylized animation that is different for some bits of the intro to the actual art of the anime, giving it a nice feel. And when it comes to emotions being done, the art has also been done to dramatize those emotions, or make those emotions well shown so that the watcher can understand.
Music
There's only the background music and the opening song『Shining Sky』 by what I believe the group to be called "Everyoung" (the name is stylized so I cannot tell for sure). The opening song is really quite enjoyable, and fits in well with the intro animation. However, the background music is nothing too special, which I guess means it fits well with the anime as well.
Overall Grade on the Doki Doki Scale
From a scale of one to ten dokis, that explain the feelings on the anime total...
❤❤❤❤❤ - 5 dokis!
