Mirror's Edge: Exodrium #1 Review
/Leading up to the events of the highly anticipated new Mirror’s Edge game comes an exhilarating comic prequel that delves into the story of Faith, one of the most celebrated heroines in video games! Dare to enter the fast-paced, high-stakes world of life on the mirror’s edge!
Mirror's Edge Exodrium serves as a prequel to the upcoming game and so far it's amazing. Mirror's Edge Exodrium does something I was hoping the first game did. The book makes me really love the city, invest in Faith's character and be hooked into this world. Issue #1 introduces Faith as a woman who has in a way come terms with her life choices. She is a runner who work freelance missions. However there is something deeper about Faith as in the first few pages she wonders what life would have been if her life was normal. What would life be if she didn't live in a world with a messed up system?. These first pages made me invest in Faith's character before she goes on her first mission. When Faith finally gets the gears rolling as a decoy for her fellow runners, I was emerge and cheering for her. Chris Emgard has written a lovely introduction into Faith's world. Giving us a story arc that is surrounded not just on Faith, but the runners, the government and even a backstory on Faith's family that pays off well. Well like characters, great inner conflict with Faith pays off and the introduction of Kate was awesome.
The art style is great and has a more upgraded take from the cut-scenes of the first game. The action, facial expressions and detail of the world are spot on. The use of color is a little darker but it reflects the tone of the story and city. Great issue to read and look at.
