Interview With Nick Taylor (Co-Founder of Dance Floor Arsenal)
/We had a chat with Nick Taylor Co-Founder of the dance program Dance Floor Aresnal. Dance Floor Arsenal is an entertaining, downloadable dance education system designed to teach guys how to dance at any occasion, all in two weeks or less – are here to help men build the confidence they need to spice it up on the dance floor, or for a private show in the bedroom.
Otakus & Geeks: Can you tell us how the concept of Dance Floor Arsenal came about?
Nick Taylor: Definitely. So, when I was in my early 20’s I heard from 4 different women that I was a bad dancer. They were a little more kind and used words like ‘goofy, funny, or ‘white’ but regardless, I knew after hearing from this many people that this was officially a problem. So, I tried to fix it by taking dance classes which was a waste of time and money. I found 0 good resources to teach dancing and wanted something I could do in my own home with a simple guidebook and video series (like P90X) but couldn’t find it, so I designed it, met Ben and together we made it happen.
Otakus & Geeks: Can you tell us what the Dance Floor Arsenal offers?
Nick Taylor: Yes. In a nutshell: Dance Floor Arsenal is a downloadable system that teaches men how to dance confidently at parties and clubs in two weeks or less through a full length e-book and over 20 video lessons.
Otakus & Geeks: As a person who really can't dance I found the moves incorporated in this program easy to jump right into. Was that the plan all along?
Nick Taylor: Absolutely. One of our primary goals was to make sure our customers got results instantly so we focused on the most versatile and easy to learn moves up front to get customers coordinated and dancing as quickly as possible. Another goal was to make sure that the material stuck and could be easily referenced so that dancing becomes a lifelong skill so we structured the program and videos so they could be easily referenced.
Otakus & Geeks: Dancing gives a lot of things to a person. You can use it as workout, release tension and energy and even use it seductively. One of things is how dance can be a physical attraction. Can you elaborate on that?
Nick Taylor: Sure can. So we did a study and found out that 75% of women find a man who can dance to be more attractive, 75%! One reason is because many women associate dancing with sex. The language of dance is EXTREMELY sexual, so if you’re confident, and can lead and know what you’re doing on a dance floor, many women naturally assume you know what you’re doing elsewhere. Also, women are generally attracted to guys who are fun and like to have fun. A guy who can dance instantly conveys that he is a man who knows how to have fun. And this can magical to women.
Otakus & Geeks: How long did it take to establish which dances will go in the program?
Nick Taylor: The long answer is that it took Ben years to learn these moves, dissect them, and structure them into his classes before we created the program. As a teacher Ben paid close attention to the learning & retention patterns of his students and kept refining and refining his teaching system more and more into a neatly organized program consisting of the quickest and most effective exercises, worksheets, and moves so that guys could learn it once, and have it for life. So that dancing would become second nature, like riding a bike. So, by the time we met he had a lot of that figured out and it took us about 3.5 months to get it all into a program.
Otakus & Geeks: Based on comments you have gotten from women what can tell us about how important dancing is?
Nick Taylor: We’ve had multiple women write to us and say things along the lines of: “Thank you! Finally, someone is doing something about this problem!” It’s a problem most guys have and I had for years so I can totally relate.
7. What do you hope men can take away from Dance Floor Arsenal?
Nick Taylor: We’ve heard multiple stories about men getting more dates and numbers by utilizing what they learned from DFA but what we like to hear the most is about the boosts in confidence, fun, and overall happiness. Dancing is about having fun, and to have a skill that increases the amount of fun you have in life is priceless, so that’s what we’re really all about, is enabling men to have more fun and joy in life.
