One third of the Cosplay Group Bitches of Cosplay, created between 3 friends that love to dress up in Cosplay which first appeared during NYCC 2013.
How did you get into cosplaying and how long you been doing it?
I got into cosplay from putting together costumes for Halloween. The first official cosplay prop I crafted was a Captain America shield for New York Comic Con 2013.
What is cosplay to you?
Cosplay is an art and an outlet for my creativity.
Do you have someone who inspires you to cosplay? If so who?
The people who share their prop replicas on theRPF.
Do your family and friends know you cosplay?
No.
Are you doing cosplay as a hobby or professionally?
Hobby.
Do you only do local or other conventions, as well?
So far, only local conventions.
How many conventions do you go in a year?
NYCC 2013 was my first convention. In 2014, I attended two, NYCC and Wintercon. Hopefully, the number of cons will keep increasing.
If you can, cosplay anywhere is the world? Where would it be?
San Diego Comic Con
When cosplaying what do you feel is most important? (e.g. detail , character portrayal, etc.)
The fit and quality of the costume and props.
What is your pet peeve when it comes to cosplay?
Using Halloween costumes for cosplay.
Do you prefer to buy or make your cosplays/props?
I prefer to make my own props. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment and sometimes it ends up being cheaper than commissioning someone else to do it.
When deciding on how you want your cosplay to look, what goes through your mind? (e.g. does the fabric/material have to look like the picture)
I try to figure out the easiest way to go about making the costume. I also try to look for tutorials from people who have done the costume.
What type of characters do you enjoy cosplaying?
Typically, superhero characters but I'm trying to branch out.
What is your favorite part of putting on your cosplay?
The makeup, which is the finishing touch to a cosplay.
How do you choose the characters you cosplay as?
I choose my favorite characters or whatever character I feel like I have a connection with.
Are there any cosplays that you wish you could pull off?
Anything cosplay with armor.
Do you have any cosplays that you will never do and why?
No.
Do you believe that a person has to have certain qualities to pull off a cosplay? (e.g. facial structure, etc.)
I think facial structure definitely helps in replicating a character but it depends on the direction you chose to go with your cosplay.
What are some of your dream cosplays?
My next goal is to make an armored cosplay.
Outside of cosplaying, what else do you do?
I love traveling.
How do you fund your cosplay?
My day job.
Where do you go most often for photoshoots? Do you do photoshoots?
Mostly at cons.
Do you prefer your images photoshopped or unshopped?
No preference as long as it's a nice picture.
