Nick Offerman and John Hodgman Join the BookCon Lineup

While NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” may be coming to a close, Nick Offerman - famous for his role as Ron Swanson - will give fans another chance to hear his unique perspective at BookCon. Today BookCon announces that Offerman, along with John Hodgman (Resident Expert at “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”) and a soon to be announced special guest will take the stage on Saturday, May 30, adding to a lineup of power-packed panels showcasing the hottest talent in books and entertainment. They will join the current roster of bestselling authors and Hollywood heavyweights including Taye Diggs, Rainbow Rowell, Mamrie Hart, Meg Cabot, Jodi Picoult, Jacqueline Woodson, Sherman Alexie and David Levithan, with more exciting guests to be announced in the coming months.

With their singular humor and wit, Offerman and Hodgman will deliver a special BookCon performance around the theme of Offerman’s second book, GUMPTION: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America’s Gutsiest Troublemakers (Dutton; on sale May 26). The book reveals Offerman’s personal pantheon of favorite Americans whose lives inspired him and whose contributions have helped make America the great country it is today. From leaders and activists to authors, artists, and muckrakers, Offerman’s diverse list runs the gamut from George Washington and Teddy Roosevelt to Wendell Berry and Yoko Ono. Together with Hodgman, who is also a best-selling author of the Complete World Knowledge trilogy of fake trivia, it will be a must-see panel for book and pop culture fans!

Offerman is an actor, humorist, woodworker and author. His first book, Paddle Your Own Canoe, was published in 2013 and became an instant New York Times bestseller. In addition to starring in “Parks and Recreation,” Offerman has also appeared in such films as 21 Jump Street, The Kings of Summer, A Walk in the Woods and the upcoming Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. His humorist shows include American Ham, currently available on Netflix, Full Bush, and the upcoming Summer of 69.  When he’s not on set, he runs the Offerman woodshop where he builds canoes, tables and other articles of whimsy. 

John Hodgman is a bestselling author, performer, humorist, and podcast host. His bestseller The Areas of My Expertise, a book of invented trivia and completely fake facts, led to his hiring on “The Daily Show.” Since then he has appeared in a variety of TV and film roles as “the person wearing glasses,” and is currently featured in the FX series “Married” and in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Knick” on Cinemax. He also followed his first book with two succeeding bestsellers, More Information Than You Require and That Is All, which together with The Areas of My Expertise form his Complete World Knowledge trilogy.
