Celebrating the Month of Halloween: My Halloween Picks
/Hello everyone. The month of October is the time when the leaves fall and change color, the air gets crisper, I get sick with allergies because of the change of weather, hot chocolate, tea, and of course Halloween specials, anime, (maybe) video games, and cosplay. Here are my top picks of spending down time during the month of Halloween. Enjoy. ^-^
Halloween Town and Pridelands- Kingdom Hearts II
Some people may have seen this one coming. Its no secret that the Kingdom Hearts series is my favorite series in video games (next to Sly Cooper). Whenever I visit the Pridelands I feel so happy and free. Yes the Pridelands is not really a "Halloween" trope though I can argue that the Elephant Graveyard and the lands itself, give off that dark, Halloween feel, since its barren and gray. Plus the boss you fight on your second visit was pretty cool. Halloween Town speaks for itself, for Sora, Donald, and Goofy's outfits are perfect and the Heartless in the level also fit within the spooky theme.
Ghost Hunt & Ghost Stories
So in the early days of O & G, one of my first anime reviews was Ghost Hunt ( I may do a revised one since have grown in my reviewing capabilities). I would definitely put this anime on the list of the most underrated animes that I love. If you are okay with gore and eriee, spooky ghosts, then this is for you. Voice acting is top notch and the mystery of a certain main character, perhaps is the greatest mystery of all (I'm looking at you Naru!) On the flip side, if you want a horror anime with alot of humor try sinking your fangs into Ghost Stories. Trust me the voice acting in this one is hilarious and the story behind the weird dialogue and plot line of the anime, is also funny as well.
Hocus Pocus/Halloween Town/House of Mouse Halloween/Nightmare Before Christmas
Disney, Disney, Disney. I cannot make a list like this and forget to put Disney. Yes this is a lot and yes my nostalgia is showing. I couldn't resist and admit, some of these movies you may have seen many years ago.
So first we have Hocus Pocus. 25 years ago this movie came onto our T.V sets and left a spell unto many of our childhoods. Hocus Pocus was indeed a great joy to watch. Binx was always my favorite and the song "Come Little Children" is one of my favorite Halloween songs that are out there. The sisters are great, quirky, characters and the plot isn't so bad for an early Disney movie. I can see the 90's logo for when a movie was about to come on. Kids jumping over Mickey's ears and the logo saying Disney Channel Original. Good times. Good times.
Next we have Halloween Town. The first is probably my favorite one of the series. I think once the kids went off to high school/college, it didn't feel the same as the first. I always get hyped whenever it came on Disney Channel and I was always intrigued with the concept of having a town that was Halloween 24/7. Ok, yes Nightmare Before Christmas did have that as well but it wasn't as vibrant or colorful as Halloween Town.
Remember the show The House of Mouse? No? Well it was a show on Disney channel that gathered all Disney characters (all the characters except for the new ones from 2009 on). It showed animated shorts and had a Christmas special too. The Halloween special was awesome and it filed my heart with glee as I watched it.
Scooby-Doo and the Witches Ghost and Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
In my opinion, these were the best two Scooby-Doo movies that I remembered from my childhood that really held the essence of what a Scooby-Doo movie is. *Spoilers* The two movies actually involve real life monsters and provide much more scares and imagination than just dudes in masks. Plus, as I remember, these two movies have villains that are women.
And Finally....COSPLAY!!!!
Enough said about cosplaying. I love it and during Halloween, its the perfect time to get your costume on.
What's your Halloween tradition or picks? Let me know in the comments.
