Ada & Leon: A Very Complicated Relationship

If there is one thing I love about the Resident Evil series is the relationship between Leon and Ada. Personally I think out of all the characters these two are the best and by far my favorite. I always get excited when I hear that Leon will be a featured character in a game or movie, the reason is because where there is Leon, Ada is sure not to be far behind. Before Resident Evil 6 is released next month, I wanted to take a look back at the complicated relationship of Leon and Ada. From here on out this will contain spoilers. If you didn't play Resident Evil 2, 4 or watch the movie Resident Evil Damnation I suggest you come back at a later date.

Resident Evil 2 - Resident Evil 2 is the first time we see Ada or Leon. Ada was hinted in Resident Evil 1 when you find a letter from an Umbrella employee named John. John leaves instructions for Ada telling her to get evidence to expose Umbrella corruption to the public. He and Ada had a relationship before the Raccoon City incident, but as we know now John was used by Ada, so she can get closer to Umbrella. Enters Resident Evil 2 Leon and Ada meet for the first time. Ada says she's in search for her boyfriend John (so she says), and of course Leon is trying to get the hell out of the city. The two of them decide to work together. Leon and Ada encounter a reporter name Ben. Ben doesn't give them much information on what's happening, however he tells them a way to escape the city is through the sewers.

While in the sewers they encounter an Umbrella scientist Annette Birkin. Ada begins to chase her and Leon is shot by Annette. Ada leaves and eventually finds Leon again and patches him up. This is when the relationship starts to blossom a little bit. Ada begins to question why Leon would risk his life? Leon being the young, naive good guy states it's all part of the job and we must make it out of here together. The two eventually find a lift to Umbrella's secret lab, but before they can reach it Ada is attacked by a mutated William Birkin. Leon defeats the monster for now and takes Ada to a safe place. This is actually one of my favorite scenes in Resident Evil 2. Ada tells Leon to leave her alone and save himself. She then states that even though they haven't been together long she's likes being around him. Let's fast forward to the end. Leon battles with the Tyrant and Ada comes in to help out. Ada is wounded and presumed to be dying. Before she they part ways Ada confesses her feelings to Leon. Leon and Ada share one kiss before parting ways. Here are the scenes from Resident Evil 2 and Darkside Chronicles.

Ada's Death/Kiss: Resident Evil 2
Ada's Death/Kiss: Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles

I believe that Ada was being genuine when it came to her feelings for Leon. Unlike her previous boyfriend John, Leon knew towards the end of the game that Ada was a spy. What motive would Ada have to lying about how she felt about Leon? Why would she lie about something like that? Things get more complicated for these two in Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4 - In Resident Evil 4 Leon is on a mission to save the President's daughter from a religious cult called Los Illuminados. If you played the complete version you find out that Ada plays a huge role on why Leon is alive. Ada is behind the scenes helping him along the way, but of course she has her own agenda and that is to retrieve a sample of "Las Plagas." When these two finally meet Leon finds out that Ada is working for Wesker. Leon ask her why and of course she doesn't answers and leaves. As the game progresses Wesker feels that Leon is becoming a threat to his plans. He orders Ada to kill him and of course Ada declines and states "I don't always play by your rules." If she didn't love him or have any feelings for him why wouldn't she take him out? Ada also shows concern for Leon when they meet up again and the plagas start to take over him. Leon begins choking Ada until Ada stabs him in the leg. "We have to get that thing out of your body." Ada says. She shows more compassion and concern for Leon in Resident Evil 4. She even helps him in the final battle and gives him the keys to escape. The final scene we see Leon turning down Ashley's advances and answers her question about Ada.

She's A Part Of Me I Can't Let Go Scene

Usually the people you can't let go are the people you love. I don't know about you, but that last scene tells me Leon still has feelings for Ada. Throughout the series we always see Leon trying to get Ada to stop her missions. He's always concerned or worried about what she has gotten herself into and vice versa. These two characters really do care for each other, but the missions and paths doesn't make it possible for them to be alone or did it happen already.

Resident Evil Damnation SPOILER ALERT! - In the new CGI movie "Resident Evil Damnation" Ada and Leon meet again. There is one particular scene that had me saying hmm did these two hook up. After the usual greeting of fighting each other in combat. Leon ask her the usual questions like, what are you doing here? Ada gives hints and then ask Leon "When are we going to carry on from where we left off that night?" Leon answers "Anytime but now." Ada then asks Leon if he is angry with her, she then leaves and gives him a warning about the town.

What really stuck with me through the whole movie is Ada's question. When are we going to carry on from where we left off that night? What night is she talking about? Did Leon and Ada hook up? If it did happen will it be revealed in Resident Evil 6? This relationship reminds me a lot of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. One person is on the side for justice, the other is out for they own personal gain, but regardless of what happens they always seem to bail each other out of a jam, and show true love and concern for each other. Ada and Leon relationship is complicated, at times you don't know if Ada can be trusted and other times Ada shows some true feelings. If she didn't care about Leon why would she save him over and over? I'm very curious to see how the relationship pans out in Resident Evil 6. I hope we get answers of that night Ada was speaking about.

Lenni Reviews: Flutter

Flutter (Yaoi Manga) by Momoko Tenzen

**This title contains adult content**
Aren’t you glad Lenni has brought you some more man-lovin? Yeah, you know you are.
Unlike the last yaoi manga I reviewed for you guys, Flutter is a light hearted boy meets boy story. The couple Masahiro Asada and Ryosuke Mizuki end up working on the same project together after Asada has been watching the enigmatic Mizuki from a far for a long time. Asada can’t hide his feelings forth a damn so of course there’s attraction between them.
As yaoi goes, the plot is pretty standard; boy meets boy, boy has attraction to boy, one boy has a secret past to work through while the other is so woefully earnest, you just wanna smush him. This is not to say it isn’t a fun or enjoyable read. Flutter is a very sweet story; drawn and written beautifully. The art isn’t as explicit as some other yaoi I’ve read but if you know your male anatomy – and I know you do – you get the picture. The intimate scenes are handled with a certain amount of elegance and digression while still being sensual, so if you like your smut implied rather than very explicit, you’ll be happy here.
I am such a sucker for a cute love story that doesn’t get overly sappy. And I’m always happy to see some more yaoi being published in the US. If you pick up Flutter for a light, fun read that will tug gently at your heart strings, you won’t be disappointed.

Import Game Watch - Project X Zero

We got a lot of request to return to covering import games. This week I wanted to look at Project X Zero. The upcoming strategy tactical RPG will see the forces of Capcom, Sega and Bandai in one game. This is coming out for exclusively for the 3DS. I will have review once I buy my Japanese 3DS. However this is on my must play list.

Here is the description from Play-Asia:
Capcom, Sega and Bandai Namco Games join hand in making this massive cross over wars. Monsters and all sorts of baddies are invading the human world, so heroes from famous game series need to come together to chase them out. Come meet Sakura, Flynn Scifo, and the street fighters.

The gamer takes control of a ninja detective - Tensai Kogoro and the female warrior Oryuji Mii. The two travel through time lines and universes to find a mysterious stone that might be the key to saving the world.

Characters move in units, the gamer can pair three characters together. See how they compliment each other. And when gamers place their forces strategically on the map, they'll string up a combo attack.

Bioware Announces Dragon Age 3: Inquistion

BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA), today announced Dragon Age™ 3: Inquisition, the next chapter in the award-winning role-playing game (RPG) franchise, is in development at BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. Coming in late 2013, Dragon Age 3: Inquisition combines the storytelling legacy BioWare is known for, with deep RPG gameplay, all on a brand new RPG game engine underpinned by EA's critically-acclaimed Frostbite™ 2 technology.

"The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now," said Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. "We've been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven't held back, so we're not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they're asking for — a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral." Added Flynn, "At the same time, we know we need new technology to truly make this vision become fully realized. And we've been working with DICE to make Frostbite 2 the foundation for the engine that is going to power Dragon Age 3." The Dragon Age franchise has received over 80 awards from critics around the world, and has sold over 8 million copies to date*. Created by BioWare, the property has spawned many novels, an animated film, comic books, collectibles and more since Dragon Age: Origins launched in 2009.

Here is the open letter to the fans from the executive producer from Mark Darrah. Source - http://dragonage.com/inquisition/

Hey everyone,
We are going to do things a little differently today. Some of you may not know who I am so to start out, I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself.
I joined BioWare in May of 1997 making this year my 15th year with the Company (So, old…). I am a programmer by training and implemented the AI, scripting, and combat systems in Baldur's Gate. After that, I moved into a lead programmer role on Tales of the Sword Coast, BG2, and Shadows of Amn. I kept my hands dirty during this time; you have me to blame for the wild mage.
After the Baldur's Gate series, I was the lead programmer on Jade Empire, though I made a brief detour to implement the first version of the DM client in Neverwinter Nights.
Then through a weird series of un-relatable stories, I ended up on BioWare's handheld title Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. I started out as Lead Programmer and finished in charge of the project. Along the way I managed to write a scripting language somehow WORSE than the one in BG, yet at the same time coded a stats system that I am VERY proud of. Fundamentally, the core achievement was that you could not die after you had already; it's surprising how hard that can be to ensure, sometimes.
Finally I moved over to the Dragon Age franchise. I have been the Executive Producer since just before Dragon Age: Origins shipped.
I am part of an active D&D campaign, love collecting pen and paper stuff and like walks on the beach.
Actually I don't like walks on the beach, too smooshy.
Okay, enough about me, why have I called you all here today?
I am pleased to confirm that we are, in fact, working on the next Dragon Age game. Not a big surprise to most of you, I know. We have been working on it in some way for about two years now with the bulk of our efforts ramping up about 18 months ago.
Part of that effort has involved you, our fans, and the feedback you've provided for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and their DLC. We've visited message boards, read reviews, and we've gone to events to have direct face to face conversations with some of our most passionate fans. We've been listening, and we will continue to listen.
Recently, I said that we didn't want to talk about Dragon Age III unless we had something to show. I'm trying to stick to that plan and won't be revealing much today. That said, a lot of information and rumors have surfaced recently and we don't want to hide from them. There are a BUNCH of things that I really want to share with you but I want to do this right, and doing it right requires some more time.
So here's what I can confirm for now:
  • The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
  • We won't be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
  • This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It's composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.
  • We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We've started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.
There's much more to talk about, of course, but it will have to wait until it's ready for the prime time.
We are going to be as open as we can. We will continue to have a dialogue with you and answer what questions we can. Keep providing us with your feedback. I'm excited about what we are working on and I hope that you will be too. I know this is going to be hard to believe, but it is just as hard for me not to tell you stuff as it is for you to wait.
With thanks for your enthusiasm, and your patience,
Mark

Airport Art: GLOBAL PUPPPETRY

One thing I LOVE about traveling to international airports is the Airport Art. Most airports offer something cultural from from their area that has some type of global trend.

As I breezed through the "i got the hook up" line of airport security, the exit was down what seemed to be a quite long, boring, & white wall >.< And the BAM!!! Airport Art. Before I could even read what's going on, I see American mariontettes and ornate Asian hand puppets ... (I LOVE marionettes & so hope to tattoo one -or a few, for that matter, SOON!)

With that said, what's the point of geeking out alone?! So here's a few things that I TOTALLY enjoyed from this little eye candy quickie ^.^
~je t'adore!

*Dearest LOLITA's I'm so sorry that I got sidetracked, but those tips are coming THIS WEEK! Then, we can build from there. Pinky Swear it! ;-D*

Who's Hotter ( Big Bang Theory ) Cast Comparison

                                      Bernadette or Penny (Who's Hotter)?

Hey Otakus and Geeks fans, Sean (true comic fan). Today I purchase season 5 of the Big Bang Theory because I'm a huge fan of the series. When the show first aired in 2007, Kaley Cuoco (Penny) was the hottest chick on the show (maybe cause she was the only chic on the show) but now enter Melissa Rauch (Bernadette). Ever since her appearance in season 3 (The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary ep) I've been leaning toward the sexy little Microbiologist.

So like all debates I have to put this to a vote. This is for all fans of the show, of this site, and nerds everywhere. Who do you guys and girls think is hotter? I'm going to start by casting my vote for Bernadette! Leave a comment below and let us know who everyone thinks is hotter. Below I'm putting up a sexy pic of both to make your decisions a little easier LOL.

Melissa Rauch (Bernadette Rostenkowski)                                 Kaley Cuoco (Penny)

Hmmmm Decision, Decision!!!

Side Note: If your wondering why I have Melissa Rauch's Characters last name and not Kaley Cuoco's? There is a mystery on the show with cast and crew as to what her characters last name is.
We'll save that one for our next post.

Wii U Price and Release Date

I have just learn that Nintendo finally released the price and date of the Wii U for North America.

This will only be with the Deluxe

The Wii U will come in two flavors. A black Deluxe version what will come with internal storage of 32gb inside the system, the Wii U gamepad, stylus, sensor bar, Nintendo Land Video Game, Wii U game pad stand, Wii U gamepad cradle and Wii U console stand. The black will also have a special promo program in where you will be enrolled into the Deluxe Digital Promotion. What this is a limited time promotion where when ever you buy anything in the Nintendo e-shop(Nintendos downloads similar to Xbox Live Marketplace), you will gain credit/points to spend on other things inside the shop, its pretty much a reward system for spending money with them. The Promotion is just that also a promo meaning that it wont last forever. It is only plan to last up until 2014, so it looks to be a two year thing pretty much.

The White/Basic Wii U will come with everything BUT the Nintendo Land Video Game, Wii U game pad stand, Wii U gamepad cradle and Wii U console stand or the Deluxe Digital Promotion.

Now the Price of the Wii U will come in two flavors also. The black/Deluxe will be 349.99 and the white/Basic will be 299.99.

Wii Games You Must Play Before Wii U

The Wii U will arrive in stores later this year. For some people, the Nintendo Wii didn't live up to expectations, accused of having too many kid friendly games or water down versions of titles that was on PS3 and XBOX 360. Whether your thoughts on the Wii was good or bad, there is no denying the Wii had some clever titles. I have created a list for my readers of Wii titles you should check out before you get wrapped up into Wii U. These titles are games that I have personally played or have in my collection. Do not be surprised if the more popular titles are not included in this list. In addition some of the titles are import games that I had the pleasure of playing. Finally this list is of non Nintendo games, so no Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong etc. You should already know that you must play those games. Here is the list:

Muramasa The Demon Blade

Muramasa The Demon Blade can be described in one word artistic. This game didn't use 3D graphics that you would expect on next gen consoles. Instead this game utilizes the 2D engine that you have seen from the game Odin Sphere on the PS2. The story, the gameplay and the beautiful art style were enough for you to put this on your must play list. This is a very challenging game even on the easy level, it brings you back to the days of gaming where the game didn't hold your hand.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 (Import)

Usually when you people think of Gundam games they say it doesn't translate good to videogames. In some cases they might be right. However in this case they can't be more wrong, Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 is amazing. What separates this from other Gundam games is this game is in first person, it uses motion controls  and it makes you feel like you're actually piloting the Gundam. The story follows loosely the events of 0079 and gives you characters from other Gundam shows such as 08th MS Team.

Fatal Frame IV: The Lunar Eclipse (Import)

If you don't know by now, the Fatal Frame series is my favorite horror series in gaming. Unfortunately Fatal Frame IV never made it over here in the states. However that didn't stop die hard fans from making a full translation of the game, and of course I got my hands on it. The game was indeed scary, but it was starting to suffer from the formula of same stuff different location. Regardless this game is indeed the scariest game on the Wii and does phenomenal of giving us the Japanese horror feel.

Disaster: Day Of Crisis

Earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, almost every major natural disaster you can think of is in this  game. Disaster: Day Of Crisis follows a former solider/agent turned rescuer Raymond Bryce. While on a rescue mission to save a hiker on a volcano, the volcano erupts and let's just say things go downhill from there. The game has wonderful sequences from escaping a tidal wave on the bridge, to trying not to freeze to death. It gives you the arcade style shooting with your Wii mote and the responsibility of saving people you come across makes it more intense. One more thing the games soundtracks is one of the best period.

Trauma Team

Do you remember a game that you played as kid called "Operation?" Think "Operation" meets Anime style with Wii controls and you have Trauma Team. If I was to describe Trauma Team in one word that word would be FUN! This game is a blast to play. It has a great story, great characters and you can play various departments of the hospital. You can play the surgeon, EMT, etc.

Another Code R: A Journey Into Lost Memories (Import)

One thing I really love about the Wii is how diverse it is. The Wii was not afraid to take chances when it came to giving gamers different experiences in gaming. Another Code R is a visual novel game, and the sequel to the DS game "Trace Memory." The story follows Ashley as she tries to find out the mystery behind her mother, the story is well written and it will keep you playing till the very end.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Yatterman vs Ryu can you really go wrong with that? Tatsunoko vs Capcom was a solid fighter mixing some of the classic anime characters with Capcom's best.

The Last Story

It's called the last great Wii game, which really isn't true since this was released in Japan before we got it here in the states. The Last Story is from the original creators of Final Fantasy and epic is the word to describe this action RPG. Great story, great music and beautiful graphics to show the Wii's hardware power.

Xenoblade

Xenoblade is truly one of the best RPG's on the Wii and in this next gen era. The gameplay was solid, the music was beautiful and story was fun and a little bit emotional at times. This is one of the games you can't miss that is for sure.

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii Dodoon to 2 Daime (Import)

Taiko no Tatsujin is a fun music game to play with the family. If you're a fan of J-Pop/J-Rock this game is for you. The game features 70 songs from anime, J-pop, videogames and more. The game is played the best with the drum set kit that you can get from Japan. This is a import worth checking out.

No More Heroes

A man trying to make a living. A man trying to become number one, a man with skills of an assassin. No More Heroes is a unique game, and very fun to play. One of the mature games on the Wii and still one of the best on the Wii. No pun intended but this game is a TOUCHDOWN!

The Conduit

An original FPS for the Wii? Yes it happened and it was a blast. The gameplay worked very well using the motion controls, multi-player had the usual m.o. but it was still fun to play.

Goldeneye 007

Remakes aren't usually that great, but Goldeneye is a great remake for the Wii. It keeps the same feel and tone of the original with a Wii spin to it. You have the option to use the Gamecube controller which I really did enjoy.

There are tons of great titles on the Wii and I'm sure you have your own list. What Wii games do you think people should play before Wii U. Let us know.

Season 3 of Superjail! Premieres September 30th on Adult Swim

The warden and the gang is back and the death toll will rise again with Superjail season 3. I had the pleasure to screen two episodes from the upcoming season. I won't spoil a thing, however I will say that this season is looking more wackier than ever. The body count rises again, the warden is in some insane situations and the animation is really psychedelic. Here are some stills with credit and much thanks to the people from Adult Swim. Remember Superjail premieres on Adult Swim September 30th 12:15 AM (EST/PST).
